Yesterday we received the following message from NABAS. Although these are worrying times, we intend to continue as normal. To ensure you get the balloons you want, make sure your deposit is paid so we can set aside the helium needed. We will not be increasing our prices to reflect the shortage. Dear NABAS Member,   As you may already be aware there is a worldwide shortage of helium gas both for industrial and balloon use – we have spoken to the British Association of Compressed Gases who have confirmed the situation.   Unfortunately this is likely to continue for the foreseeable future and helium balloon gas users should discuss the situation with their individual supplier.   Currently there are sufficient stocks in some areas whereas in others there are already shortages.   All the major gas companies have advised they have no alternative but to set up a system of rationing cylinders and limiting [and in cases pausing] signing new helium customers.   As a result it could be that individual manufacturers/suppliers/distributors will raise the price of helium and/or increase rental charges.   We will of course endeavour to keep you advised of the on-going situation.   Regards NABAS Committee
